Pray for the K People
The K are the remnant of an ancient civilization that once encompassed much of the present-day Southeast Asia mainland. The majority of the K live in what is now Cambodia while many thousands remain in Vietnam.
Bombings, civil war, and war with Vietnam turned Cambodia into a killing field in 1970. At the same time, Vietnam was in civil war with devastating effects on the people of this region.
The K in Vietnam have, in many ways, been absorbed into the Vietnamese community. They have intermarried and now share the religions, customs, and culture of both the Vietnamese and Khmer.
Theravada Buddhism is the public veneer of the K religion, but animistic belief in the spirit world may have more of a hold on their daily lives. Their actions are driven by the fear that these spirits can cause them harm if not appeased.

10 The Lord has bared his holy arm
before the eyes of all the nations,
and all the ends of the earth shall see
the salvation of our God.
Almighty God, we pray that you would open doors to this difficult-to-access people group and that you would raise up key leaders from within the K people group. We pray that K believers from abroad would see the need and have the passion to reach this group. We also pray that the Lord would help the K overcome the deep-seated prejudice from two different majority people groups.
